I have been a counsellor for over three years and specialise in counselling young people ages 14 – 25 and can offer a person-centred approach to counselling. I also have experience of working with older client via the same methods.

Person-centred counselling means that my focus would be purely on what a young person wishes to bring to the session, as and when they bring it and would work with the client to work things out for themselves, without giving advice. As Carl Rogers explains “It is the client who knows what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are crucial, what experiences have been deeply buried.” (Rogers, 1951).

Alongside the general person-centred approach, my specialist area is creative counselling, this means sessions can take the form of a more creative, artistic setting more than just talking if a client wishes.

Having worked in education for seven years, I have been able to really support the mental and emotional health of young people within my specialised age bracket and my four years of Samaritans experience has also provided me with the skill set to offer emotional support through listening.

My main areas of support are: Academic Pressures, Anxiety, Bullying, Depression, Low Self Esteem & Confidence, Sexuality, Stress, Suicidal Feelings, amongst others.
