Hannah Castrey

Hello and thank you for considering my profile. My name is Hannah and I am a humanistic counsellor based in Staffordshire. I work in a person-centred way. This means I aim to offer a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental space for you to share whatever you would like to bring to counselling. We will work at your own pace in a way that works best for you and your needs. I also have experience working in a solution-focussed way, aiming to support and empower you to reach your goals.

My background is working within mental health support services, providing support to people affected by mental ill health to help them to remain independent. I am passionate about reducing stigma surrounding mental health and have benefitted from counselling myself. This is what lead me to complete my counsellor training. I believe counselling can be a valuable tool in improving our mental health, maintaining good mental health and understanding ourselves and our relationships on a deeper level.

Alongside my private practice I currently work within a domestic abuse support service. Prior to this I supported survivors of sexual abuse in a counselling role. This experience has given me a good insight into the criminal justice system and how it’s difficulties create additional challenges for survivors of domestic and sexual abuse. Due to this, I am passionate about supporting survivors of abuse by working in a trauma informed way.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and hold an enhanced DBS certificate.
